October is...BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
A recent breast cancer awareness campaign involving the phrase " I like it on" is being questioned. I however think it has a very valid point. The words following the phrase are supposed to be the location of where a woman likes to put her bag. For example the chair, the floor, the table Yes, it has a dirty undertone to it if you don't know what it is. However that kind of is the point. People are going to see this and ask questions. If you post the phrase "I like it on_______" and someone asks you why? what? or comments anything about it. You can tell them the reason for it. You can make them aware of how serious the issue of breast cancer is without having to force information and statistics upon them out of no where. I do not think that this campaign is mocking the seriousness of the disease at all. By opening up the discussion on breast cancer it lets people know that this is something we can't ignore. It lets people come together for a fundraiser or walk and raise money to find a cure. Its just a more casual way to bring up a hard topic. Its like wearing a pink ribbon. The only difference is everyone knows what the pink ribbon means and wont ask any questions. This new campaign however raises questions and awareness.
